The new Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and e-commerce
On 1 September 2023, the fully revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP/nDSG) came into force. For anyone running an online shop in Switzerland, stricter requirements now apply for data storage, transparency and security.
What does the FADP mean for Webflow shop operators?
Anyone processing customer data (name, address, email, payment data) must ensure:
- Data storage in Switzerland or an equivalent country
- Transparent privacy policy
- Data processing agreements (DPAs) with all service providers
- Breach notification obligations
